Summer Reading Sessions

During the summer months the Pittsburgh Creators' Project hosts summer reading sessions.  Where musicians meet to read, rehearse, and record wind band and choral music written by Pittsburgh-based composers.  

Pittsburgh area composers (18 and over) of all genders, races, nationalities, and sexual orientation are encouraged to submit scores for consideration to be read. 

Those individuals selected to have their work read at our sessions will receive:

• 30 minute session for rehearsing/reading and recording.
• an audio file of the recorded portion of the session.​

Email a PDF of your score with an audio file (mock-ups accepted) to [email protected]; then click the PayPal link above to submit a 25 dollar donation that will cover a portion of the cost of printing, and you should receive a confirmation of receipt within 48 hours. If you do not receive a confirmation reply - contact us through the contact form on the website. Submissions will close on June 2nd at noon and will be reviewed by a panel of board members which will select participants for this summer's sessions.

Symphonic Winds:  June 16th & 17th

Chorus: June 18th

​Our organizers, Robert Traugh (symphonic winds) and Garrett Hoffman (Chorus), will communicate the results to participants on June 8th. Selected composers must be avaliable to be present at their assigned session. Composers not selected, or who have a conflict with their designated time will have the opportunity to audit.

Concert Series

The Pittsburgh Creators’ Project Symphonic Winds past concerts have included Pittsburgh musicians, Pittsburgh composers, The Moon Area HS Symphonic Band, The TRYPO Wind Symphony, and two featured “Yinzers-in-Residence” at this event: Brian Worsdale, Artistic Director/Conductor of the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra & James Rodgers, Bassoonist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

If you are a music educator in the Pittsburgh area, consider scheduling a side by side concert fundraiser.  This includes a rehearsal and performance featuring your ensemble as well as the Pittsburgh Creators' Symphonic Winds.  The concert will also feature your students performing alongside the Symphonic Winds for a selection.
